Our unconscious mind

Our Hidden World

We all keep parts of ourselves hidden from others. We do this consciously, because life is already complicated enough. But we also do the same with ourselves, unconsciously. Throughout our lives, things that we find too difficult to face - our contractions, our fears, our shame, even our desires - are pushed aside and ignored. This is how we survive life; but over time this can also leave us depleted, as if something has gone missing inside us.

A Familiar Stranger

This malnourished part of us, is like a distant yet familiar stranger. Like someone we once vaguely knew, but not very well; perhaps because we didn’t feel at ease in their company.

Working with the Unconscious

Part of my job as a therapist is helping you explore yourself as a whole person. Working together it is my hope that we will gently and sensitively illuminate the contours and complexions of your vulnerable unconscious self - the private self; separated from your conscious world. Embracing the contradictions of our ‘unloved’ or ‘unacceptable’ selves, helps us to develop a more mature understanding of who we are as a person.
